Class D to C Modification

Jetaire performed the full Engineering, Certification, Program Management, and Kit Manufacture of Class “D” to “C” cargo compartment smoke detection and fire suppression system for B727, B737, MD80, MD90 and L-1011 aircraft. Originally designed at the request of Delta Air Lines, Jetaire has since sold over 500 modification kits to airlines and operators around the world.

The Jetaire Aerospace & Technology fire suppression system provides 60 minutes of aircraft cargo bay fire protection. When used in conjunction with the Jetaire cargo smoke detection system aircraft safety is substantially increased. The Jetaire system reduces crew workload by automatically firing the secondary extinguisher bottle and displaying system status.

The fire suppression system is certified to rapidly and consistently maintain effective Halon concentrations in accordance with 14CFR Part 25.851(b)(2).

The cargo compartment Smoke Detection system is a dual loop fire detection system which provides aural and visual alerts to the flight crew in the event smoke or fire is detected in a lower cargo compartment. Detection output signals can automatically arm a fire suppression system.

The smoke detection system is certified to rapidly and consistently detect smoke or fire within 60 seconds in accordance with 14 CFR 25.868. When installed per Jetaire instructions, the system meets the requirements of AC 25-9A for smoke penetration, and is EMI compatible.
